RE: Charlotte NC area CG's

Friends of ours stayed in the permanent area of the KOA. They liked it and would have stayed longer, but decided to relocate permanently to Charlotte. It is very different thant the transient section of the KOA.

RE: Charlotte NC area CG's

Carowinds campground is the best choice and easiest commute to Southpark. Field Ridge is a bit out of the way and you could hit stop and go traffic on a regular basis getting to south park.
Not even sure if Lakeside Lodge & Crown International is still operating. I drive by everyday and they are developing the area and it doesn't look like much is going on in the CG.

RE: Folks with a recalled refer, and near Hichory NC.

I was able to save a 30 mile trip to Mountain Top RV in Monroe, NC becasue dometice referred me to Tracy's RV in Fort Mill SC. Only 3 miles away! I had no idea Tracy did service, I only knew him from selling used campers and being assoicaled with the Fort Mill KOA.
Ours is enroute later today to be fixed!

RE: Breaker Tripping

We find we cannot heat up the hot water and rund the A/C on high, TV and some lights when we first arrive at camp. Also the refridgerator is running on electric too and is not always up to the optimal temp. We only tow with it on for long trips during 90+ degree heat. Our solution is to turn on the hot water tank once all of the systems have passed the "start up" phase and are just running to "maintian" their temperatures.

RE: Foothills Family CG, Forest City NC

Thanks for the recommendation. We stayed on site 19. Great campground within 80 miles of home! We will definately return. Only downfall is that it is hilly and one heck of a hike from the back sites to the pool!

RE: Membership camp grounds

Membership camping is like any other business in America. If not run properly, they will go under. I just don't see the financial benefit of "pre-paying" $4K+ to be limited at certain campgrounds. On top of that pay yearly dues and possibly "special assessments". I think in the long run (given today's market) I could do better investing my money in low risk investments and using the proceeds to travel where ever I feel.
Just my own opinion and not the opinion of all...

RE: Strange set of Reviews for Myrtle Beach

soricobob
I don't think you did anything wrong by allowing the posts. As an editor, there is nothing wrong with the reviews. I applaud you for doing your job and being an independent reviewer of the post. That is why is is an "opinion".
I just thought there would be a bunch of folks here that may find it as humorous as I did! Love the site, keep up the good work!
The more people that don't like those campgrounds, the more sites that are available to those of us who can't plan 2 years in advance!:B

Strange set of Reviews for Myrtle Beach

Anyone else think this is strange? Just surfing RVparkreviews.com and came accross 3 reviews posted by the same person at the same time. They either had some really bad luck at Myrtle Beach or is trying to make it "less popular". I find it hard to believe Ocean Lakes and MB Travel Park would "loose" reservations or not have sites available. The to top it all off, have an awful experience at Lakewood. Read it for yourself and make your own conclusion:
http://www.rvparkreviews.com/search.php?userkey=dc058.86.32.b.a38e2|9de5cd266567
But if it is true, then I am sorry your experience wasn't better, you should give them a second chance in the future.

RE: Yogi Bear's Jellystone Camp-Resort Marion, NC

Love the video! We stayed at Jellystone in Marion when they first took it over from Hidden Valley. Nice owners and facilities were being maintianed appropriately. I was planning on going back this year with my 2 yr old. But the prices are way to high.

RE: Creekwood Farms RV Park Waynesville(Maggie Valley), NC

Looks like we missed the boat at Stonebridge. Our power kept going out because the campground was full. Next time we will head to Creekwood or Pride.

Disappointed - Maggie Valley Stone Bridge CG & RV Resort

Spent a long weekend enjoying the cooler evening temperatures in Stone Bridge RV Resort in Maggie Valley, NC. That was about the only thing that I enjoyed! We arrived to our "buddy site" to find barely enough room to get our slides out. If we went over any farther into our space, there would not be any room for our buddy to get their awning out. Since our awnings faced each other and created our own hang out, we could live with the tightness. About 2 hours after we arrived the CG filled in and all of a sudden the power went off. We later found out from the management that it goes off all of the time when the park is full. We spent 2 days monitoring the power. Management knows there is a problem, but filles those sites anyways and when the power goes off, they expect us to be understanding. The fix was to wait for the breakers to cool off in the main hub and hope that everyone did not turn the A/C on at the same time. When out on our walk, we noticed a hot tub (it was hot) plugged into the ped along with the normal RV 30 amp, many people had brought extra refridgerators. No discount or refund was offered, not even an apology. If you go to this campground, please do not get in the F & G sections until they "update" the power. Ask not to be on a buddy site or your awning and patio mat will be right against your neighbors. We would only go back if we could get a site in the D,E or Creekside sections. Also as others have stated, the pool is too small for the size of the CG. Would not have been a bad place if the power was not a "known" issue.

There are some COE & SC parks on the SC/GA boarder near Augusta. We stayed at Modoc Campground and really enjoyed our stay.

RE: U.S. 74 East questions

I would recommend avoiding I485 on the east side of I77 and 74 through Monroe. Best route we take is how mooreadventures goes. We are on the southside of Charlotte near 485.

RE: White Water Rafting

If anyone is Charlotte, NC. Try the North Carolina National Whitewater Center. It is man made, but will give you a great ride! It was used for the Olympic Kayak trials a few weeks ago. They have Class I-III in one section and if you feel brave enough your guide will take you down the class IV and if I am not mistaken there may have been a class 5 stuck in there.
